Rules & Regulations - Richtersveld

Registration
  • You must collect your Wildrun® race number and sign the indemnity at registration.
  • Registration will be the day before the race, between 15h00 and 18h00 only. It is your responsibility to get yourself to the event timeously.
  • Briefing will be in the evening, prior to event start the following morning.

Race Day
  • The route is unmarked bar the start and finish areas. You will be given a map for each day and GPS co-ordinates. A short GPS briefing will be offered before the event start, for any runners wanting a bit more confidence in how to use their GPS.
  • Runners must carry water and nutrition for the duration of each day’s run. There will be one water table/checkpoint/aid-station en-route per day only.
  • A race sweeper will follow the last runner and will be in radio contact with the organisers.
  • There will be two dedicated event medics on standby in the event of an emergency, one at checkpoint and one at the finish.
  • Race cut-off is at a predetermined point on each day, and is only enforced for your own safety. If there is need for this, the procedure will be outlined in the evening briefing.
    • Day 1 cut-off: Grasvlakte @ 22km, 3hrs10min
    • Day 2 cut-off: Armmanshoek @ 19.5km, 2hrs50min
    • Day 3 cut-off: Tatasberg Granite Slabs @ 13.6km, 2hrs
    • Day 4 cut-off: To be confirmed
    • Day 5 cut-off: Not applicable
  • Runners must be checked in at all checkpoints on route to be deemed as having finished the day's distance. Those runners who were not checked in at all checkpoints will receive a two hour penalty on their recorded finish time. It is each runner's responsibility to ensure they are checked in at all checkpoints.
  • If you withdraw from the race at any stage, it is your responsibility to inform the organisers as soon as possible. Failure to do so could result in an extensive and costly man-hunt and can impact the safety of all runners on the route.
  • If you withdraw from the Wildrun® without requiring medical attention, we will assist, where possible, in transporting you to each day’s venue until the finish venue only.
  • If you wish to leave the Wildrun® earlier and need to be evacuated to a location where you can continue travelling on your own the organisers will help to organise this and a relevant administration fee will be charged for this service.
  • The Wildrun® will be timed and results posted daily on the website and notice board.
  • Overall results are based on an accumulative time.
  • No seconding allowed.

PLEASE NOTE: This a tough outdoor running event that takes you deep into remote environments. By its very nature you will need to be self-sufficient and carry the compulsory equipment listed. Please consider your experience before entering and feel free to contact us for any more information.

Friends & Family
  • The Wildrun® entry field is small due to the nature of the area in which we run, and because we like to keep the event exclusive. Friends and family are welcome to follow the Wildrun®, however they will not be able to camp with the runners and will need to book accommodation/camping within the reserve separately.
  • We will assist where possible, and any travel and accommodation arrangements will need to be paid up-front.
  • Runner accommodation will be in the tented camp only, along with the event crew. If you make other arrangements, that will be for your own account and no refund will be given.
