Richtersveld Transfrontier Wildrun® 2016 Day 2

Richtersveld Transfrontier Wildrun® 2016 Day 2

Today was stunningly beautiful but very hot and predicted for tomorrow to be hotter. It was a mixture of technical running, scrambling, goat trails and river beds but what a BLAST!

Starting off a a fast trot at 8am and then at half hour intervals after that depending on what time you arrived the day before.

Traversing along the hills seemed like a good idea until runners hit the shale and sharp rocks and then diverted lower onto the goat trails or into the river bed itself.

What would we do without Pappa J and Paddy? Their encouragement, support and map skills are a great help everyday at the Aid Stations and Check Points.

With only 1 twisted ankle we plan to go into Day 3 strong and early to avoid the heat. First start is at 6:30am as the runners head into a 40km day.

Thank you to Ian Corless and Nick Muzic for the most amazing photos!! Nick looks like he's having a great time out in the hills on the bike inbetween capturing those once in a lifetime shots.
