Rules & Regulations - Wildcoast

  • You must collect your Wildrun® race number and sign the indemnity at registration.
  • You must fill in and sign the Dwesa indemnity at registration (to ensure quick entry into the nature reserve on day 2).
  • Registration will be the day before the race, between 15h00 and 18h30 only. It is your responsibility to get yourself to the event timeously.
  • Briefing will be in the evening, prior to event start the following morning.
Race Day
  • The route is unmarked bar the start and finish areas. Simply follow the coastline until you reach the finish each day.
  • Runners must carry water and nutrition for the duration of each day’s run. There will be one water table/checkpoint en-route per day only. Local communities may provide drinks (for sale) at various accessible venues en-route, but this is unreliable.
  • A race sweeper will follow the last runner and will be in radio contact with the organisers.
  • There will be two dedicated event medics on standby in the event of an emergency, one at checkpoint and one at the finish.
  • Race cut-off is at a predetermined point on each day, and is only enforced for your own safety – i.e. to avoid crossing a river in the dark or in dangerous conditions. If there is need for this, the procedure will be outlined in the evening briefing.
  • Runners must be checked in at all checkpoints on route to be deemed as having finished the day's distance. Those runners who were not checked in at all checkpoints will receive a two hour penalty on their recorded finish time.
  • It is each runner's responsibility to ensure they are checked in at all checkpoints.
  • If you withdraw from the race at any stage, it is your responsibility to inform the organisers as soon as possible. Failure to do so could result in an extensive and costly man hunt and can impact the safety of all runners on the route.
  • If you withdraw from the Wildrun® without requiring medical attention, we will assist, where possible, in transporting you to each day’s venue until the finish venue only.
  • If you wish to leave the Wildrun® earlier and need to be evacuated to a location where you can continue travelling on your own the organisers will help to organise this and a relevant administration fee will be charged for this service.
  • The Wildrun® will be timed and results posted daily on the website and notice board.
  • Overall results are based on an accumulative time.
  • No seconding allowed.
Prize money for breaking the overall record

For the first time ever in 2017, R25,000/ea will be awarded to the first male and the first female to break the respective overall male and female records for the Wildcoast Wildrun. The current records are:

1) Applies to fully paid entries only.
2) If there is a draw, the prize money will be shared between the record breakers
3) If more than oe person breaks the current record, the fastest time will be awarded the prize money in full, and set the new record.
4) There is no prize money for breaking the daily records, this applies only to the overall record for the men and overall record for the ladies, as stated above.

PLEASE NOTE: This a tough outdoor running event that takes you deep into remote environments. By its very nature you will need to be self-sufficient and carry the compulsory equipment listed. Please consider your experience before entering and feel free to contact us for any more information.
Friends & Family
  • The Wildrun® entry field is small because we fill the hotels we use along the coast to the max. Friends and family are welcome to follow the Wildrun®, however the hotels and accommodation along the way are reserved for runners and crew as priority. If it is possible to include a spouse, we will assist.
  • All travel and accommodation arrangements will need to be paid up-front.
  • If you book accommodation with your supporters that is not provided by Wildrunner (only possible in Kei Mouth and Coffee Bay) this will be for your own account and you will not be refunded for the accommodation that is included in your entry fee.
